Welcome
For those who have been here before, you’ll notice that the site changed a little. As time passes, I’ll need to move sections around so that the important details stay here on the front page, and others are moved to separate pages, such as the History link with the button above.
The Plan
I plan to take a slightly different approach to managing the road by using the contributions to improve areas that are the worst first and make larger, longer-lasting improvements so that over time we end up getting more for our money. This would include widening certain areas and adding drainage ditches and crowning the road to allow for water runoff and prevent pooling, among others.
As of September 14th, 2026, we are accepting contributions to support the maintenance effort in addition to getting estimates to do the actual work. Donations can be made in person, with cash or check, in addition to Zelle (to my email address). If you have any input or comments on anything here or maintenance that needs to be done outside of the norm, please let me know.
Also, if you are in the business of road grading and are interested in grading or just helping with the improvement of our road in general, please contact me at the number or email below.
Current Update
26 October 2026
We now have a collection/pledges for $2300.
On the 20th, I received a cost estimate and road elevation plan for the initial work from Good’s Services. While the elevation plan included details for the entire road, the cost estimate was only for the initial work.
After reviewing the estimate, I asked the owner, Galen Good, for a follow up conversation on questions I have about the estimate and information regarding the long-term comprehensive phased plan for the entire road, along with a rough-order-of-magnitude cost estimate for each phase. While trying to improve our worst areas, I want each step to be as affordable as possible for us and I want to be transparent and provide as much detail as possible to you all so we can decide collectively if we even want to pursue the larger vision.
The estimate was in two parts. The first part was estimated at $6,500 and included digging a 24″ deep and wide ditch along the west side of Kino from Ramsey to the first wash south of Ramsey. The ditch would cross two of our residential driveways, so the estimate includes installing a 24″ wide x 24′ long culvert in front of each of those driveways. The vegetation taken from the ditch would be placed in the easement and the dirt would be graded out on the road surface.
The second part of the estimate was for hauling in and grading 425 tons of AB, which would provide a harder surface for this first section of road. This part, in particular, and the impact of waiting on grading the AB, is on the agenda to discuss with Galen due to the high cost of the materials (he estimated $14,000 for this alone).
I thank those who have I’ve met with and have reached out with comments and concerns and appreciate the opportunity to hear from you! I’ll provide more information after I hear from Galen and will eventually contact each of you for your feedback on this current plan before committing to anything.
